Frost

Frost is an elf
With a crystal wand;
She waves it once
And freezes a pond.

 

She waves it twice —
A bare black tree
Is turned
To loveliest filigree.

 

Three times — fern leaves
And shadowy boughs
Are etched on the panes
Of every house.
